Job Description:

Our client is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to develop, in the public interest, a single set of high quality, global accounting standards.

It is looking to appoint a Compliance Office reporting into the Director of Operations.

The successful canidate will be responsible for monitoring the organisation’s compliance with relevant policy and legislations, and providing support to the organisation on a wide range of legal matters.

The role will be extremely broad ranging with the main purpose being to monitor the organisation’s compliance with internal policies and with relevant UK, EU and US legislation.

Specific responsibilities will encompass all of the following and applicants will be required to take ownership of the various areas.

Data Protection: acting as the data protection officer (initial project basis)
Fulfill the compliance and notification requirements of the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Monitor, review and update the organisation’s data protection policies.
Implement the organisation’s compliance strategy.
Identify the categories of data managed by the organisation and set out appropriate retention policies in accordance with Data Protection law and policy.
Monitor the organisation’s compliance with e-privacy regulations.
Provide compliance management information and guidance in respect of the organisation’s products, services and responsibilities.

Corporate Bribery: assist all staff in enforcing the organisation’s Corporate Bribery Policy.

Confidentiality: periodically review the organisation’s Confidentiality Policy.

Maintain the organisation’s risk register and support heads of departments in identifying and managing departmental risk issues through the timely provision and review of risk management policies, processes, procedures and guidance.

Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including Intellectual Property, licensing and waiver agreements, commercial agreements and legal and regulatory policies.

Provide overall support and consultancy to the other departments within the organisation on a range of legal matters and contribute towards decision-making on issues affecting the organisation.

Consult with internal and/or external counsel in areas where specialised support is needed, such as contract, employment and Intellectual Property law and other commercial legal areas, as required.

Manage and maintain the organisation’s corporate compliance obligations, including Companies House filings, insurance policies and bank mandates.

Provide support and cover to the Associate Manager, Contracts, as necessary, in tasks such as:
Drafting and reviewing contracts.

Assisting with the organisation’s royalty process, monitoring revenue received from commercial agreements and performing credit control functions to ensure that outstanding income is received in a timely manner.
Contract database administration.


Canidates will ideally be qualifed lawyers with a sound knowledge of all facets of commercial contract and consumer law, Intellectual Property and licensing, UK/EU Data Protection and E-Privacy legislation, corporate filing and compliance requirements and relevant professional codes of practice.
